What is Local Jobs?

Working with the legendary North & North West Tasmanian Employment Facilitator, James McCormack and the phenomenal Local Jobs Taskforce, Futures Isle is proud to be acting in the Support Officer roles. The Local Jobs Program brings together expertise, resources and access to funding at the local level to support job seekers and their communities in each region. The program has a particular focus on re-skilling, up-skilling and employment pathways and is part of supporting Australia’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Basically, we are helping to connect employers, jobseekers, initiatives and events that create employment outcomes, pathways and opportunities.

How can you get involved?

Events: The Local Jobs Team organises, runs, promotes and shares events in the region that open up opportunities for employment. These events have previously included Jobs Fairs, employment information sessions, Jobs in the Pub: Informal Networking Evening, Welcome to Launceston Evening and many more. We hope to see you at one soon. Check out Futures Isle Facebook for upcoming events.

Employers: We love looking at things differently and working with you to understand labour market data and challenges. Local Jobs Program then takes these learnings and collaboratively develops ways to address any skills or employment gaps. Reach out to see how we can support you.

Jobseekers: We are here to help and are always interested in knowing if there is something that we can do to connect or refer you to an opportunity for your future. You can contact us here for more information.

Local Recovery Fund: The LRF is available for projects that meet priorities that are identified in the Local Jobs Plan. For examples of approved activities, click here.
